Mitragyna Speciosa "Kratom" is a tropical leafy tree from the Rubiaceae (coffee) family that is native and naturally grows in Southeast Asia. Trees grow from 12 to 50 feet tall and approximately 15-20 feet wide. The large leaves are traditionally used for their medicinal values and the two main alkaloids/compounds the leaves contain are Mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine among an array of other alkaloids (total 25 alkaloids). These alkaloids interact with the opioid receptors of the brain described as providing various effects including mood enhancement, stimulation, analgesic effects and overall sense of well-being to combat depression, anxiety and stress.  Kratom is also known to help control alcohol, opiate and similar withdrawals symptoms, blood pressure, diarrhea and increase anti-oxidant levels.
